Middle School: 6th, 7th & 8th Grade
Picasso inspired portraits! These were so fun to do with the 7th graders. Black and white photographs were taken of each student, developed, and handled back, so that they could cut and chop up their faces. They then had to mix and match their facial features into three separate portraits in the theme of Picasso's Cubist movement. AWEsome!
6th graders created vases inspired by Matisse's cutouts. Students cut colored paper into shapes inspired by the famous cutouts. They then applied mod podge to a sponge, and layered the shapes onto a ballon. Not all was fun and games, as these sculptures proved to be a challenge, being that a few balloons deflated during the process. But, the students were troopers and all finished with outstanding results!
